Chapter 266 Battle for the Cowl (8)

“Gordon will be in this factory tonight and will be caught by Mister Freeze. Twenty-four hours later, Gordon defeats Mr. Freeze in another location.” Feng Bujue didn’t enter the factory directly, but first observed the terrain and escape route around.

“Well… This time the scenario started too early. All the important events haven’t happened yet. The van transporting Arkham’s prisoners hasn’t been hijacked. After that, it was Black Mask who ordered the prisoners to rob Two-Face’s ammunition and raid the Gotham police department. The battle for the cowl between the heroes goes on in sync with that… I will have to stay in this play two or three days to catch up with these events,” he said to himself, “Staying too long in this non-sleep mode scenario will exceed the game time limit… That is, in this killing game, the system isn’t going to give us much space to change the plot. It just borrows the Gotham setting and gives us a stage to fight on.”

His grasp of the setting was accurate, and the task before him was undoubtedly daunting…

Among the six players, if the weakest man, Feng Bujue, wanted to reverse the disadvantage and win the game, he had to use all available resources in the scenario.

While reading the newspaper at the hotel, he came up with three strategies. Plan 1: Kill and pretend to be Black Mask, replacing him and then manipulate Arkham’s prisoners to attack other players; Plan 2: Sneak into the bat cave and steal a lot of equipment to enhance his own battle skill; Plan three: Rob Mr. Freeze’s gun.

The first strategy, so to speak, was the best idea he came up with, it’s just very difficult to implement. Although Feng Bujue knew the identity of Black Mask II, he also knew what he needs to do and how to do it… But there were so many variables involved in finding this guy’s hideout, killing and replacing him, moving up the timing of the hijack plan… There’s a high chance that any of them would fail.

The second strategy was a good one. The timing didn’t matter but the problem was that it was still risky and difficult.

Gotham has two Bat Caves, one in Wayne manor, one in the underground ruins (built after the earthquake of Batman: No Man’s Land), whether it was Bruce Wayne’s Bat Cave or Jason Todd’s Bat Cave there should be lots of equipment with an excellent level or even perfect level in storage.

It wasn’t hard for Feng Bujue to find any of them with his reasoning ability as long as he looked up the maps and urban traffic. The problem was… Even if he finds it, it’s hard to get in and when he’s in, it’s hard to get out.

All of the heroes of The Network now uses the Batcave as a stronghold, and Barbara (Gordon’s daughter, the Batgirl who was shot by Joker in “Killing Joke” and is now the Oracle) has been staying there for a long time, if Feng Bujue wants to steal things and then met any of the superheroes, it’d be hard for him to deal with them.

As for Jason Todd’s bat cave, it’s empty most of the time but in case Todd was in there… Feng Bujue would be so dead. Todd’s like a gun-wielding, killer version of Batman. According to the description of Robin in the comics, “he has a varied but brutal style of fighting. From grappling and martial arts techniques to expert marksman skills. The three suspects he apprehended on Monday swore up and down it was Batman. Though none of them got a clear look because he moved so fast.”

No matter which Batcave he chooses, with Feng Bujue’s combat level, there’s a huge chance that he can’t get out…

So. He chose the third strategy, the least profitable but the most possible one.

The combat level of Mister Freeze was general, his weakness was that he fears heat and it’s very apparent. It should be easy to get rid of him if Feng Bujue doesn’t get shot by the freeze guns, even a normal person like Gordon could do it.

Moreover, even if Feng Bujue got Freeze before any policemen found him, the mainline of the world would not be changed. It’s just Freeze would be arrested days before. Anyway, Freeze was sent to Iron Heights, which’s not related to the Arkham plot.

“I wish it were a longer scenario as long as I could cooperate with a stronger villain and give him some information, then taking Justice League down or sending a few nukes to the other players…” Feng Bujue muttered, now that he had walked around the factory and returned to the place where he had first left the car. “Well… It seems good to go in through the second-floor window…”

“I see. You want to take Mr. Freeze’s freeze guns?” A voice interrupted Feng Bujue’s thoughts.

After Feng Bujue heard that, he felt anxious. He realized in a second that, he must have met another player.

“Well… Someone seems to have been with me for a long time.” Feng Bujue pretended to be calm and slowly turned around, looking for the sound, “why didn’t you strike me from behind?” He laughed, “Don’t give an answer like… ‘it’s not necessary.'”

The ordinary figure of King in Shadow appeared before Feng Bujue, he replied calmly. “To launch a sneak attack I need to have a method. As far as I’m concerned,” he said, taking a pistol from his bag, “this is the only thing I can use to strike you from behind.”

After Feng Bujue became a little vigilant, King in Shadow, surprisingly, put the pistol back in his bag.

“Haha… Unfortunately, my shooting level is only F, I might miss the shot at this distance.” King in Shadow replied with a smile, “in the case of a sneak attack at a close distance, I’m not that confident since my combat level is only E.

Besides, we are all around level 30. Will you not notice if I creep up on you? From what I’ve observed along the way, you can be described as very cautious. Anyone who comes within five metres of you would be noticed by you even if they move their arm.”

On the other side, Feng Bujue was observing King in Shadow. After he finished, he replied, “I can’t see any signs of deceit on your face. That means there are two possibilities… Either you’re a great liar or what you just said is true…” He paused and looked directly at King in Shadow. “Let’s suppose you really are a bad fighter and shooter. So… There are also two possibilities as to why you decided to appear before me right now.” He raised a finger, “First, you’re weak, so you try to form an alliance with me against the other players in this scenario.” Then he raised his second finger and said, “the other is either your apparatus, your psychic, or your summoning, there has to be one or more reasons that let you be confident enough to beat me.”

“Oh?” King in Shadow seemed to be in the mood. “Although it sounds like self-conceited, your judgment is still right. What else?”

“Of course.”A smile crept on Feng Bujue’s face, “Whether I was walking or sitting in the taxi, I always kept an eye out for people following me, but I didn’t see you at all.”

“I think you know very well yourself that you followed me in a way that I couldn’t detect. In a situation where I know nothing, why did you show up? If you want to kill me, why don’t you wait until I finish the fight with Mister Freeze?”

Feng Bujue touched his chin and paced back and forth, saying, “Based on the information you just told me, I made this assumption… No matter what form your tracking technique takes, your combat technique… It must be very doggy.”

King in Shadow’s expression changed.

“Things like giant robots, visualized psychic magic, monster-like summoning…” Feng Bujue continued: “After thinking this way, the affair should be reasonable.” Feng Bujue said blandly, “If you do it in the city, even if it kills me, it will attract cops, superheroes and other players.”

Feng Bujue sneered: “If you use the fighting method mentioned above, there’s really no reason to wait until I’m up against Mister Freeze because it’s the same here.” He pointed to the road he had come from. “the factory area is far away from the city. I’m thinking… As soon as the taxi entered the area, you were ready to start. It’s just the distance you were me stalking from was a bit far, so after I walked around the building, you came and showed up.”

King in Shadow looked him up and down, “You are… Feng Bujue?” In the player list, Shiva, Die to Get Mysterious and Seven Kill showed their society’s name, and [Not Afraid] seems like a girl’s ID, therefore, after King in Shadow saw the logo of Hell’s Frontline, he made the assumption.

“That ~ is ~ me ~” Feng Bujue answered, his tone was so bitchy, it was as if he, himself was also a well-known player.

“Your analytical abilities are good, I’d like to cooperate with you in the future if possible.” King in Shadow said, “But at the moment, I think you are dead,” Horrible momentum came from his ordinary look, “the players after rank 10 can not fight with me.”

“Oh? Hearing this tone, you’re also on that rank, but anonymous?” Feng Bujue tried to gather more information.

King in Shadow didn’t keep his secret, admitting: “Rank nineteenth, King in Shadow, Title ‘Person in the Shadow’.”

“19th in rank, but no one below the top 10 can best you?” Feng Bujue said: “If you can say that… Then I’ll tell you a secret.” He said seriously: “Even if I’m not in the fighting rank, none of them can best me.”

“Hum… Think I’m bluffing, right?” With a smile on his face, King in Shadow took out a knife from his bag.

Feng Bujue was ready because he was actually the one who was bluffing… Death poker was quietly out of his bag, if King in Shadow suddenly strikes, he could use [Shield Card] to block.

All of a sudden, King in Shadow stabbed himself with the knife…

“Hey… Buddy… What are you doing…” Feng Bujue roasted, “Do you want to frighten me to death, I suggest you don’t try that…”

“Haha… I’m sorry, it takes a lot of my own blood, and it has to be fresh, so I have to do this every time.” King in Shadow made a forced smile, “At first, I didn’t have any experience and scratched my arms and legs randomly, but ended up with cuts and wasted hemostatic props. Then I understood, a stab through the liver… Cough…” he said, spitting blood from his mouth.

“What the hell…” Feng Bujue immediately took out [Miss Moxxi’s Bad Touch] from the bag and started to shoot King in Shadow, “it seems that you are releasing some high-cost dangerous skill!”

Feng Bujue’s shooting level was D and with the appropriate distance, dozens of bullets hit the target in a few seconds.

Unfortunately, those bullets bumped into a layer of invisible barrier and all of them bounced off when they touched King in Shadow’s body.

“I paid a lot for a complete set of armor specifically designed to protect against bullets, all with [Refraction] properties.” King in Shadow laughed, “Just for those few seconds…” His blood spread quickly on the ground, forming a pool of blood.

At that moment, there was a light flashing through King in Shadow’s eyes. In the next second, the blood on the ground started to boil.

Feng Bujue didn’t reload his gun. After he saw the bullet attack was ineffective, he put away the gun and took out [Death Poker] decisively, a “Straight Flush” immediately flew out. At the same time, he took a step and followed the poker like an arrow released from the string.

King in Shadow pulled out the knife, covered his wound and ran away. But he stumbled, his walking style was not stable and his speed was like an ordinary person, it looked impossible to escape from the double strikes of Death Poker and Feng Bujue.

Feng Bujue decided to launch some fierce attacks, so he grabbed his folding stool halfway through and was ready to beat up King in Shadow after Death Poker hit him.

Unexpectedly, when the poker flew to King in Shadow, a huge arm emerged out from the pool of blood in the ground. Making “Straight Flush” lose its original track.

After seeing that, Feng Bujue stopped and flashed to the side, then tipped the group with his foot arch. He bypassed the huge arm and continued to attack King in Shadow.

King in Shadow couldn’t hide and was caught by Feng Bujue, then…

PAPAPAPAPA…

Feng Bujue smashed the folding stool like raindrops, the technique he used with this weapon wasn’t unskillful at all……

“Indeed a summoner! Sure enough your combat level is E! Boy you are toooooo weak!” Feng Bujue beat his opponent with no mercy.

According to Feng Bujue’s idea, there were two reasons for the villains’ defeat:

First, when dominant, they like to bullshit. In countless movies, we can see similar scenes: A villain, pointing a gun at the head of the main character, instead of shooting, he does a wordy, long-winded talk, then finally the main character uses this time to find the opportunity to turn it into a victory.

Second, fart after taking off the pants. In countless movies,we can still see a villain who has a gun but always likes to tie the main character somewhere, put a bomb next to him, and then leave. What kind of behavior is this? It’s like divorcing before cheating, making others wonder about his intelligence.

Feng Bujue wouldn’t make this kind of mistake. When his opponent stabbed himself, he started to fire hurriedly with continuous attack’s, which lead to this overwhelming advantage. At this moment, Feng Bujue’s main point can be boiled down into him never stopping until King in Shadow becomes a light and disappears.

Unfortunately, this “overwhelming advantage” was an illusion…

“Heh-heh… Hahaha…” King in Shadow, holding his head and squatting to defend, was embarrassed but still laughed.

“Masochism…?” Feng Bujue thought King in Shadow was not dying that fast, so he changed to pipe wrench and swang down toward the head violently: “Stabbing yourself, getting beaten, but you’re still feeling happy?”

“How much do you think… How much survival value do I have?” When King in Shadow asked his question, his arm was covering his head that was just hit by a heavy blow from the pipe wrench, which split his skin and exposed his bones but his tone didn’t seem like he was feeling any pain at all: “80%? 90%?”

“You tell me then.” Feng Bujue took his arm back to his rib and then sent it forward, which made a sharp blow to King in Shadow’s jaw. Even Feng Bujue didn’t think that, the front half of the pipe wrench would directly be inserted inside his skull. At this depth, King in Shadow’s brain would be destroyed and his survival value would be reduced to zero.

“Cough… Ga…” His jaw was pierced, making King in Shadow unable to talk normally. Unexpectedly, he simply put down his hands and showed his distorted face, which was hurt badly, and squeezed a sentence, “I… *cough*… my… survival… value… is… *cough*… ni… ty… nin… percent…”

“You seem like a serious person… Is it that necessary to tell me? Is this showing off…?” Feng Bujue was aware of something and his eyes moved away from King in Shadow and looked back at the arm rising from the pool of blood.

Right now, the thing coming out wasn’t only an arm but the whole monster.

The monster had a human form, it was five meters tall and extremely strong. At first glance, it looked like the Hulk, its body was covered with layers of wavy, semi-solidified plasma armor and it was bright red and gold.

The face of the monster had two black eyes. I can’t say that it was strong, but it gave people the feeling that… It was indeed tough.

“Since then, I have shared the same survival value as the Bloody Stone.” King in Shadow’s voice returned to normal again.

Feng Bujue stepped back to avoid being caught between the two sides. When he looked at King in Shadow again, the scars on the other side were healing at a speed that he could see directly.

“Don’t worry, I told you, I’m weak.” King in Shadow said: “but if you stare at me like you just did and get punched in the back, I don’t know what the result would be.”

Feng Bujue raised his head, glanced towards that Bloody Stone and muttered, “What kind of monsters are those in the ranking list…”
